Blobbo Vanishes

It was breakfast time at the Oggle Café on Bubble Mountain. And breakfast meant Ogglecakes. Blobbo’s very favourite of all time.

Rocco, Coco, Oddo, Beepo and Twinko had just munched their yummy Ogglecakes.

“I wonder where Blobbo is,” said Rocco.

“I’m here, silly Rocco. Right next to you!” said a voice that sounded just like Blobbo. 

Everyone looked but there was no sign of Blobbo.

“There’s no Blobbo here,” said Coco.

“I can’t see Blobbo,” said Oddo.

“Well, I can see you,” said a voice that sounded just like Blobbo. 

“Blazing bananas, are you playing tricks on us, Blobbo?” asked Rocco.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

“Yes Beepo, Blobbo must be hiding somewhere,” said Twinko.

“I’m here!” said a very cross-sounding Blobbo voice, “sitting at the table with you all!”

“No, you’re not,” said Coco.

“You are being silly, Blobbo. Your voice is here, but you’re not,” said Oddo.

“My voice comes out of me and I’m right here!” said an even crosser Blobbo voice. “Watch!”

Suddenly, an Ogglecake rose up in the air. Then, it just vanished!  

“How did you do that?” asked Twinko.

“I just picked up my Ogglecake and ate it.  That’s what I always do when I eat Ogglecakes,” said the Blobbo voice. 

“We didn’t see any hands,” said Coco.

“Not even any fingers,” said Oddo.

“And no Blobbo, either,” said Twinko.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

“Blazing bananas, Beepo, you think Blobbo is invisible?” asked Rocco.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

Just then Pasto came up with another tray of Ogglecakes.

Then the Blobbo voice said, “Hello Pasto. Can I have a cup of Oggleberryade, please?”

Pasto was so surprised he nearly dropped the tray.

“I can hear Blobbo but I can’t see Blobbo,” said Pasto, “are you playing tricks on me? Never mind, I’ll bring some Oggleberryade. Pity Blobbo isn’t here.”

“But I am here,” said the Blobbo voice.

“Very funny,” said Pasto, “I’ll get the Oggleberryade.” 

Now, you might remember that Oggleberryade is a delicious drink. It has blue bubbles that float out of the cup. Ogglebogs have to use Ogglestraws to drink it because the blue bubbles sometimes float up their noses and makes them sneeze.

Pasto soon came back with long cups of Oggleberryade. He put them down on the table. Then he was amazed to see one of the cups lift up in the air.

“Blobbo’s voice and no Blobbo and now a flying cup! I think I’m going to have a lie down!” said Pasto and off he went.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

“Good question, Beepo. Did anything strange happen on your way here, Blobbo?” asked Rocco.

“Please tell us.” asked Twinko.

“Nothing much, really,” said the Blobbo voice, “I was a bit tired this morning. But as I went through the Mushmallow Forest I saw a warm, golden light shining down. On the ground there was a beautiful green stone. The stone seemed to glow. I picked it up and yawned, because I was tired. Then I just threw the stone into the bushes somewhere. I was hungry so I came straight here." 

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

“The Invisibility Stones of Planet Fenge, Beepo?” asked Twinko.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

“Oh, I see, Beepo. So, if you touch a glowing Invisibility Stone and yawn at the same time, you become invisible?” said Rocco, “I see.”

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

“Yes, Beepo, we had better find that magic stone and make Blobbo unvanish,” said Twinko.

“We want Blobbo back,” said Coco.

“We do,” said Oddo. 

“So, am I really invisible?” asked the Blobbo voice.

“We can hear you but we can’t see you,” said Coco.

“That’s right,” said Oddo.

“I don’t like being invisible,” said the Blobbo voice.

“Don’t worry, Blobbo. We will unvanish you as soon as we can,” said Rocco, “come on, everybody, let’s find that magic stone!”

They all set off down Bubble Mountain. Soon, they were at the Mushmallow Forest.

“Where are you, Blobbo?” asked Rocco.

“I’m here,” said the Blobbo voice.

“Where’s here?” asked Twinko.

Suddenly, a small Mushmallow waved in the air.

“Here’s here,” said the Blobbo voice.

“Stay where you are, Blobbo,” said Rocco, “everyone, start looking for that Invisibility Stone.”

Well, they looked and looked under every bush.  But they couldn’t find it. Then they looked again.

“Oh dear, I hope we see Blobbo again,” said Coco.

“I don’t like the idea of an invisible Blobbo,” said Oddo.

“Nor me,” said the Blobbo voice.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo and flew up above the Mushmallows.

The Ogglebog friends waited and waited.

“Oh dear,” said Coco.

“Oh dear,” said Oddo.

Just then, Beepo flew back carrying something. It was the Invisibility Stone!

“Yippee, Beepo!” yelled Blobbo.

When Beepo landed, Blobbo picked up the glowing stone. Then he did the biggest unyawn ever. Slowly but surely, the Ogglebogs friends could see their old friend unvanishing.

“You’re back!” they all cried.

“Nice to be back!” said Blobbo, with a happy smile.

“We missed you,” said Twinko.

“We really did,” said Rocco.

As they all watched, the stone glowed and glowed. Then it just faded and faded. Until it was just a stone again.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz, bzzzz, bzz, bzzzz, bzz!” said Beepo.

Rocco said, “yes, that’s right Beepo, sometimes visitors from other planets accidentally leave things behind. And if you don’t know what they are, it's best never to pick them up. And if you ever do pick something up, just don’t yawn!”

“It’s funny,” said Blobbo , “but being invisible has made me really hungry!”

“All right, everyone, let’s go back to the Oggle Café!” said Rocco, with a happy laugh.
