Coldyfruit

It had rained one morning on Planet Ogg. Now, this was a bit strange, as it was usually sunny.

When it rained, tiny pink drops fell from the sky. And on that morning they were very square raindrops. They landed with little pops and puffs of pink smoke. 

But now the rain had stopped. Sometimes, Ogglebogs can get a cold if they get caught out in the rain.

Rocco, Coco, Oddo and Beepo were sitting at the Oggle Café on Bubble Mountain. They had just finished their famous Ogglecake breakfast.

Now, Ogglecakes are made from opples, plims and dotes.

Opples are square and bright blue, plims are shaped like a triangle and dotes are green with red stripes.

But one of the Ogglebogs wasn’t there that morning. It was Twinko.

“Poor Twinko is in bed with a bad cold, you know, Silly Twinko stood out in the rain on Mewsday and got wet through,’’ said Blobbo.

“And that’s how Twinko got a cold,” said Oddo.

“Oh, dear,” said Coco.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz," said Beepo.

“That’s a great idea, Beepo,” said Rocco. “We could bring all kinds of coldyfruits back and give them to Twinko.”

“Dotes are a very good coldyfruit,” said Coco.

“Twinko really likes dotes,” said Oddo.

“Oooh, maybe we should bring some for Twinko,” said Coco.

"Great idea!" said Blobbo.

"But where will we get them?" asked Rocco.

"Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz," said Beepo.

"Oh yes, Beepo, that’s right. We can pick them at the dote orchard," replied Rocco. "I forgot."

"Oh no," said Blobbo. "That means going near the stinky Ogg bogland. Hope we don’t see any Riplats there!"

"There will be lots of stinky Blobweed round there too. I just know it," said Coco.

Now, Blobweed is a very smelly plant that grows near the bogland. It is dark green and smells like a mixture of old dogs and last week’s boiled eggs.

“Never mind," said Rocco. "Some tasty dotes will cheer up Twinko."

"Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz," said Beepo.

So they all set off to the dote orchard.

On the way, they had to go round the Ogg bogland.

Suddenly, Oddo said, "I think I saw a Riplat. I did, I did!"

"Where?" asked Rocco.

"Just over there," said Oddo.

"Oh, silly old Oddo. That’s just a little bush moving in the breeze!” said Rocco.

Then Coco said, "But what do Riplats look like?"

"Riplats look like - erm-er-er- let me see… Put it this way, you’ll know a Riplat when you see one,” said Rocco.

Beepo was buzzing along in the air.

"Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz," said Beepo.

"Thanks, Beepo! Dote orchard ahead," said Rocco.

Soon they came upon some very funny-looking dote trees. They were bright blue and upside-down.

Have you ever seen upside-down trees?

You see, the trees on Planet Ogg sometimes get a bit warm. So, they sometimes grow upside-down to keep cool.

"Well, here we are," said Rocco. "Let’s get to picking these delicious dotes.”

"I’m a bit tired,” said Blobbo, "and I think I’m going to…”

"Don’t yawn, Blobbo!” yelled Oddo.

"You know what happens when you yawn!” cried Coco.

But it was no good. Blobbo did a great big yawn and yawned up every single dote that was growing on the first tree. All the dotes just whooshed straight into Blobbo’s mouth.

Thank goodness there were plenty of other dote trees in the orchard.

“Blazing bananas, Blobbo," said Rocco. “Don’t yawn up any more dotes or there will be none left for Twinko.”

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz,” said Beepo.

“Yes, Beepo. We had better start picking or we will be late,” said Coco.

They began picking the tastiest, juiciest dotes they could find. Soon they had a little basket full to the brim.

“Well, we had better get back," said Rocco.

So, off they all went.

As they got to the Ogg bogland, it started to rain again.

Down came lots of tiny, square, pink drops. They landed with little bangs and made puffs of pink smoke.

"I don’t want to catch a cold, like Twinko did!” said Oddo.

“Nor do I," said Coco.

“Nor I,” said Rocco.

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz," said Beepo.

“Why don’t I just yawn you all up into my tummy?” said Blobbo. “When we get to Twinko’s house, you can come out again. Then everyone will keep out of the rain.”

“Great idea, Blobbo,” said Rocco.

“I’m big and round and rain just rolls off me so I never get wet,” said Blobbo.

So with one huge yawn, Blobbo yawned up his friends.

It was a bit crowded inside Blobbo’s tummy. But at least it kept them all dry.

When they got to Twinko’s house, Blobbo did a great big un-yawn. Out came Rocco, Coco, Oddo and Beepo.

Twinko was so happy to see them all and felt so much better.

Rocco said, “We hope you enjoy munching these dotes, Twinko.”

“Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz,” said Beepo.

“Dotes are the best coldyfruits!” said Blobbo.

“Plims are good, too!” said Coco.

“All fruits are good coldyfruits!” said Oddo.

“All fruits are good for you even when you haven’t got a cold ,” said Rocco. “And tomorrow we will bring you some delicious Ogglecakes for your breakfast!”

“And maybe some plims?” added Coco. 

Twinko said, “Thank you, everyone. I’m so lucky to have such great Ogglebog friends!”
