Twinko's Lost Tooth
One fine morning, Rocco, Blobbo, Coco, Oddo, Beepo and Twinko were all sitting at their usual table at the Oggle Café on Bubble Mountain.
Pasto the Baker came to the table with a tray of delicious Ogglecakes.
They all smiled at Pasto, thinking about how they couldn’t wait to start munching.
When Twinko smiled, Pasto said, “That’s not your usual Twinko-smile.”
Twinko frowned and said, “Yes, one of my Oggleteeth has fallen out. It is gone forever.”
Beepo said, “Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!”
And Rocco asked, “Lost a tooth?”
And Oddo asked, “Oh no, where could it be? Twinko will need it to eat breakfast.”
And Blobbo asked, “Can’t you just yawn up breakfast like I do sometimes?”
Twinko said, “Look, here’s my lost tooth. I kept it in my pocket, just in case I could put it back in my mouth.”
Then Coco said, “You sillies! Losing an Oggletooth isn’t a problem.”
“But it is, it is,” cried Twinko. “I’ve never had a tooth fall out before!”
Coco said, “I’m older than you and all my Oggleteeth fell out. Not all at the same time, though. They fell out one by one. And I’ve got lovely new teeth that grew in my mouth. See?”
Coco did a great big grin and showed them a set of gleaming, white Oggleteeth.
“Happens to all Ogglebogs,” said Coco.
Twinko stood up and held up the tooth. “But what do I do with this tooth now?” Twinko asked.
“Is that a lower tooth or one from the top?” asked Oddo.
"A lower tooth,” said Twinko. “Look.”
Twinko grinned a great big grin and showed them the empty spot where the tooth had been.
“When you get home, you should throw that tooth over the roof of your house,” said Oddo. “That’s what some Ogglebogs do.”
“That’s a funny thing to do,” said Twinko.
And Beepo said, “Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!”
“Yes, I’ve heard that, Beepo. They say doing that will make sure your new tooth grows nicely,” said Rocco.
“What if it’s an Oggletooth that came out from the top?” asked Twinko.
Rocco said, “You should put an upper Oggletooth under the carpet.”
“Silly idea,” said Oddo.
Beepo said, “Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!”
“I heard that you should keep all lower Oggleteeth and give them to your Auntie Mildred, if you’ve got an Auntie Mildred,” said Oddo.
“But I haven’t got an Auntie Mildred,” said Twinko.
Coco said, “Blazing bananas! You all really are great, big sillies! You should take your Oggletooth home. Then put it under your pillow when you go to sleep.”
“Why?” asked Blobbo.
Coco said, “Because the Oggletooth mouse will come in the night. Sometimes the Oggletooth mouse will take the tooth and leave a toy under the pillow... or even an Ogglecake!”
Twinko said, “I don’t want a squished Ogglecake under my pillow. That sounds yucky mucky.”
Beepo said, “Bzzz, bzzzz, bzz!”
“That’s a great idea, Beepo! And if you leave a note, you can ask for no Ogglecakes,” said Oddo.
“Or ask for an Ogglecake and I’ll eat it,” said Blobbo.
Twinko liked Coco’s advice best of all.
Pasto gave Twinko a box to keep the Oggletooth in.
That night, Twinko put the Oggletooth under the pillow.
The next morning, there was nothing under the pillow except a little note.
The note said, “Dear Twinko, Congratulations, you lost your first tooth! I will keep it always. This note is also an Ogglecake token. Please use this Ogglecake token to buy cakes for your friends at the Oggle Café. Love, the Oggletooth mouse.”
“Wow! I’ll tell all my Ogglebog friends about the Oggletooth mouse,” thought Twinko. “Every Ogglebog should try to lose a tooth. Or maybe even two!”
