Privacy policy

This policy explains what data Sooper Books collects, why we collect it, and how we look after it. It applies to the Sooper Books mobile app on iOS, Android and Yoto.

## Who we are

## What we collect

- Your account: email, name, password hash.

- Your child's profile: first name, birth month and year, avatar colour, categories you've picked for them. We use this to curate the right stories.

- Listening activity: which stories your child has played, for how long, and whether they finished. This helps us recommend better stories and shape what we make next.

- Subscription status: held by RevenueCat / Apple / Google / Stripe. We don't store payment card details.

- Device info: app version, device model, OS version, crash diagnostics. Used for stability and support.

## Children's data (COPPA + GDPR-K)

Sooper Books is built for families with young children. We only collect children's information from a parent or guardian who has set up the account. We don't ask children for any data directly. We don't use children's data for advertising. You can review or delete your child's profile at any time from the Profile tab.

## Third-party services we use

- Firebase (Google): authentication, our database (Firestore), crash reports, analytics, remote config.

- RevenueCat: subscription management.

- OneSignal: push notifications for things like new stories. You can turn these off in your device settings.

- Smartlook (production only): anonymised session replays so we can fix UX problems quickly. No child names or identifiers are recorded.

- Typesense: search index for the story catalogue.

- Prismic: the CMS where our editors publish stories.

## What we don't do

- No advertising trackers. No third-party ad networks.

- No selling of your data to anyone.

- No profile data shared with people outside our service providers.

## How long we keep your data

For as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep records for tax or legal reasons.

## Your rights

- Access: ask us for a copy of what we have.

- Correction: fix anything that's wrong.

- Deletion: ask us to remove your account.

- Object: tell us to stop using your data for a specific purpose.

## Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We follow industry-standard practices but no system is 100% safe. Please use a strong password and keep your device secure.

## Changes

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
